Red clay is the Oak Grove problem. It's in the yards, on the ball fields, and on every pair of cleats that comes through the garage door, and it loves light carpet.
Oak Grove is an unincorporated community in Lexington County, a few miles west of downtown Columbia across the river. Older brick ranches line some of the established streets, Brookshire has larger custom homes, and newer construction like The Cottages at Roofs Pond keeps going up. The new houses almost always came with pale beige or gray builder carpet, which shows every orange footprint the day it happens.
Before we get there
Don't scrub fresh clay with a wet rag and a household cleaner. That spreads it and drives it deeper. Let it dry all the way, break up any clumps with your fingers, and vacuum slowly, several passes in different directions. Then call us.
Clay rides in on dogs, too. A towel for paws by the garage door will do more for your carpet than any spray under the sink.
Getting it out
Clay is fine-grained, and it stains by settling deep in the fibers. The tech looks at the stained areas with you, says what to expect, and prices the job. Clay spots get their own pre-treatment and some extra agitation. The whole room then gets the main clean, carbonated bubbles and very little water, and extraction lifts the loosened clay out.
Fresh tracks come out very well. Clay ground in for a year or two will lighten a lot, and sometimes a faint shadow stays. I'd rather tell you that now than oversell it. A regular carpet cleaning once or twice a year keeps it from getting to that point, and because no soap is left in the carpet, the next round of clay has nothing sticky to hold on to.
Dogs, kids, and the rest
Oak Grove has plenty of young families and plenty of dogs, usually in the same house. Accidents on newer carpet soak into the pad fast. Our odor and stain work uses a live enzyme that reaches the pad and breaks down the source, so the smell doesn't come back on the next humid afternoon.
