For a few weeks every spring, anything parked outside in Arcadia Lakes turns yellow. The town is wooded lots and small lakes between Two Notch Rd and Trenholm Rd, and that many pines put out enough pollen to coat a windshield overnight. A lot of it ends up indoors.
Homes in Arcadia Woods, the Courts of Arcadia, and Point Arcadia all get the same seasonal dose. If somebody in the house has allergies or asthma, April is a long month.
Where the pollen settles
Pollen is light and it rides in on everything: shoes, sleeves, the dog. On hard floors a broom handles it. Carpet is another story. The grains work down to the base of the fibers, where a vacuum barely reaches, and they sit there with the dust mites and dander, right where the kids play. The worst strip is usually just inside the sliding door to the deck, where a fresh dose comes in every time somebody lets the dog out.

When to book
Wait until the heavy yellow drops off in late spring. Clean in the middle of peak pollen and you'll be cleaning twice. Families with pets or allergies usually do well with a second visit in the fall.
